Los turismos representan la mayoría de los vehículos que circulan por las carreteras de Ávila, con un total de 93,390 unidades. Este número ha experimentado un notable aumento en comparación con la década anterior, con 9,743 turismos más en circulación. No obstante, la provincia cerró el año pasado con un récord en el censo de vehículos, reflejando una tendencia similar a nivel nacional, donde se estima un total de 36.2 millones de vehículos en circulación.
En términos de habitantes, Ávila cuenta con una de las ratios de vehículos por habitante más altas en España, con 873 vehículos por cada 1,000 habitantes, lo que la sitúa en el séptimo lugar a nivel nacional. The Balearic Islands, with the same ratio, come in fifth place, followed by Segovia, with 888 registered vehicles per thousand inhabitants, ahead of Ávila in terms of the most motorized provinces, according to the latest Statistical Yearbook of the DGT. Conversely, the provinces with the fewest vehicles per inhabitant are Bizkaia, where there are only 609 cars per 1,000 people, and Barcelona, where the ratio is 626 vehicles per thousand residents.
Despite Ávila being one of the provinces with a high motor vehicle fleet in relation to its population, the registered vehicles here only represent 0.4 percent of the national motor vehicle fleet, ranking 46th in the list of vehicles per province. This list is led by Madrid, where in 2024, nearly 5.5 million vehicles were registered, representing 15.1 percent of all vehicles on Spanish roads.
